LibraryThing (book catalogue) My local library is using this in conjunction with their catalogue

Check out this website I found at librarything.com
# Join the world’s largest book club. # Catalog your books from Amazon, the Library of Congress and 690 other world libraries. Import from anywhere. # Find people with eerily similar tastes. # Find new books to read. # Free Early Reviewer books from publishers and authors # Enter 200 books for free, as many as you like for $10 (year) or $25 (life). # Available in many languages

Does anyone use Library Thing? Would it work as a sort of online book club? I am looking to create a 'web 2.0' book group in conjunction with a radio broadcast and other tools like Twitter.

It all looks like a good idea but would book people really use it?

New version of REAPER | Audio Production software installed.

I have supported this software from it's very early incarnation and now, I realised today, it is up to vers. 3.0 - so I downloaded it only to find my licence is not valid any more. It's not crippled and they allow an extension but I really hope it doesn't go like Pro-Tools with constant upgrade costs. I guess I can always go back to to version that works for me.

If you need to do anything with audio production it really is a fantastic tool. The benefits are listed on their site but one plus I like is you can run it from a USB. That's consistency I like.

Chill With The Dolores Chiller (via feedly)

Laptop courier bag or carry something more important

Chill With The Dolores Chiller

dolores

Introducing the Dolores Chiller from Timbuk2.  This bag is specifically designed to carry your stuff comfortably while you ride, and to keep your cold ones cold.  While you may not able to carry as much as Matt can with his ‘hacked’ bike cooler, the Dolores Chiller is almost as cool.  According to the product description:

There’s just no need for warm beer (or beverages). It’s a beautiful day in the park and you deserve to drink a cold one that’s actually cold. Geez! So we’ve magically transformed our Classic Messenger into a fully insulated cooler. It’s a bit Jeckyl & Hide because it looks and feels like a messenger but performs like a cooler.

A couple key features this bag has are a waterproof lining to keep the condensation inside the bag, its fully insulated to keep your cold ones cold, and a red metal bottle opener attached to strap.  The bag retails for $110, and has arrived just in time for summer.  Please ride responsibly…

Kevin Anderson on how to keep on top of the news online - use Feedly

Check out this website I found at guardian.co.uk

Q How do I keep on top of the torrent of news and information I get sent every day?

A Try using Feedly, one of the best web browser-based ways to scan a lot of information quickly.

I was once drowning and now I am saved. I was sent this article about Feedly (thanks @awrd) and reminded me I had signed up to Feedly but never got my head around it. This made it all a lot clearer - perhaps it has changed.. I'm not sure but I am going to give it a good go.

DISQUS- a Powerful Comment System

Today with the Twitter suspension chaos and something else I was following I came across Disqus (is that the most extreme web 2.0 reforming of a word you've heard?)

It basically creates the function to allow readers follow a discussion/ comments postings if the site does not offer it.

It seems to work quite well and subscribing was good too - and that is important.
